Who’s gonna drive you home? – My decision to stop driving

3 months ago, I was told to stop driving after 29 years.

It was difficult, but due to anxiety, repairs and a few instances which got my heart banging, I waited to repair the car as I had a feeling this would be the case as I knew I had an appointment coming up in a few weeks.

Well I was told I shouldn’t be driving at my last appointment. I had a feeling I wouldn’t be safe to drive anymore. I can let it go now and think of all the lovely adventures I’ve had but will have some lovely ones on a bus. ..I’m sure 😊

Not all doom and gloom

It isn’t all doom and gloom though. There are some funny moments now 4 plus years down the line.

Shouting the dog to come in when she’s already in.
Waiting at the bus stop and just hesitating enough as you are not 100% sure to put your arm out for the dark coloured van or one was a mini 😃

In a shop thinking, oh I need a sewing kit and its a cup when you pick it up. This is one of many.

Staring at something to make out what it is if you can’t pick it up is something I do everyday. My eyes seem to focus a second or two later..its like one of those magic pictures from years ago at times.

Thinking the dog is everywhere due to black blob.

Been shown a picture on a phone and saying ‘oh yeah’. Could be anything.

Eccentric Viewing

Living well with low vision

An interesting article on eccentric viewing. My eyes have been naturally helping me for a couple of years now.

Quite fascinating how your body will adapt on it’s own. Although you can learn this before you need to. Although my eyes started to organically negotiate this by themselves which is amazing really! the only way I can describe it is that your eyes move around slightly.
Usually looking beyond and a little bit above what you are needing to see using your peripheral vision. ..this was the start for me, knowing that my eyes had taken it upon themselves to help me out. The first time I though, right, this is happening now.
