After all this time…

After asking for a referral yet again to the Eye Centre, I finally had an appointment.

To recap.

I went to see the eye consultant in September 2019.

He requested that I stopped driving. I did.

To have 3 tests then see him again to talk about certification and to check that my right peripheral vision wasn’t being compromised by a new added condition.

I went for a field of vision test. An OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) detailed photography of the back of eye and an ERG TEST (Electroretinogram) A specialized diagnostic test that measures the electrical activity generated by the cells in your retina in response to light.

These took until the last one. My ERG. A week before lockdown in March 2020. All the test were done at 3 different hospitals.

Then nothing till that November 2020, when I had 2 letters requesting I came for appointments to the Eye Centre. For the results of the tests and to talk about certification.

I rang them up and told them I couldn’t come as I had covid. I was very ill at that time. I spoke to a lovely woman and she said she would ring back in the New Year. I wrote about this in a post at the time.

Then nothing. Nothing until a long time later.

I rang the Echlo for the Eye Centre. Explained all of this. She eventually got back to me. Said I’d been discharged as I hadn’t gone to my appointments in November 2020! I explained again, I had rang to cancel them. I can even prove it! I also asked for help with cane training. Absolutely useless. She never came back to me on that. (She has left now BTW)

I then went for a random field of vision test. Out of the blue. But I was apparently discharged? Strange…

Then nothing.

No results. No consultant.

I asked last year for a referral from the doctors back to Opmathology. It’s taken all this time for me to get an appointment.

I went on Friday 23rd October. A very windy day. Storm Austen.

I’ve had an eye test. A field test. Photography for the back of my eye.

I popped my yellow slip in, yet again, for a follow up appointment. Fingers crossed I can get some answers.

My eyes are still hurting from the bright lights shone in my eyes from the machines and staring a bright dots and crosses for long periods of time.

Lots of hospital things lately, but that’s another story.
