Visual Acuity Conversion Chart – Snellen

Snellen scale chart on clipboard

This is a visual acuity conversion chart as some countries and hospitals within those countries diagnose with different charts.

In my letter for example I am 6/24 in the right eye without pinhole glasses.

This equates to 20/80, which I personally understand better.

Legal eyesight limits to drive in the UK

You must be able to read (with glasses or contact lenses, if necessary) a car number plate made after 1 September 2001 from 20 metres.

Clipboard with GOV.UK written on it

You must also meet the minimum eyesight standard for driving by having a visual acuity of at least 20/40 (6/12) measured on the Snellen scale (with glasses or contact lenses, if necessary) using both eyes together or, if you have sight in one eye only, in that eye.
You must also have an adequate field of vision.
