Infernotemporal defect – Temporal vision

Well, I’ve just had my follow up letter from my last appointment with the eye centre and comfimation of a infernotemporal defect.

The problems I’ve had in my right eye, I’ve discussed before in earlier posts.

I’m very sad today. Scared and sad to be completely honest.

It’s one thing knowing my peripheral vision in my right eye is failing but another to have it seen inside by my consultant.

They have said my peripheral vision shouldn’t be compromised with the condition I have so this is why I’m having all these tests.

There must be another condition or something else wrong in there.

I still have to wait to see the main man, in a few months for the results of all these tests.

Some ice cream and a beer is in order to make me feel a little better about something there’s nothing I can do about.

Or just one mahoosive bender.

I think my left eye is OK… Peripherally.

Small mercies and all that. But that’s what you have to do. Pick the good bits out and appreciate the small things.

Colour blindness and Stargardts macular dystrophy

colourblindness diagnosis book page with a red and green number 12
This is an Ishihara book. This is for colour blindness tests.
I’ve had one and got them all right ☺
People who have Macular Dystrophy have one of these test intermittently, as our colour fades due to our cells being destroyed. This test also gives an indication what stage our progression is.

Pigment epithelial detachment – PED Macula

Letter explaining I have retinal atrophy and small ped detachment

As well as Macular Dystrophy, I have a Pigment epithelial detachment (PED) which means that there is fluid, drusen, tissue or blood filling up, making a detachment at the macula which is in the retina.

I need to find out if this will get worse or can be treated.

Mine has been observed in the right eye at the macula.

This is why my right eye is the worst for me and has been giving me problems. This is why I think the black blob appears sometimes.

I will ask about this in more depth when I see my consultant again and if this is related to my condition or just bad luck.

Still waiting now on an ERG and then appointment to go back to see my specialist again to see the results of all the tests.
