Eye test appointment

Well, Boots opticians have sent me a letter saying that my eye test is now due.

I’m quite excited to get new glasses, because it always feels like my eyeballs have had a wash ☺

It was 2 years ago since my last test for reading glasses.

I posted a few weeks back to say I needed them testing again, as I can tell these aren’t as effective nowadays as they once were, due to the fact that a few times I’ve been puzzled why I can’t read, wonder where my glasses are, when they’re actually on my face.
The local branch is now open again. With all the safety measures in place.
⚪ Come on your own if possible.
⚪ A limited amount of slots per day.
⚪ Social distancing inside and outside the shop.
⚪ Wear a mask.
⚪ By appointment only no walk-ins.
I’ve also screenshot some styles that I like so I’m not hanging around in there more than I have to. Not necessarily for me but for the staff there. They have to meet umpteen people a week, so safer for them if I\’m not daudling picking everything up.
They will be tortoiseshell. #standard… (don’t panic… fake I might add) As they always are and have been since I started wearing glasses ☺
So that’s what I intend to do this week is book an appointment.
It will be interesting to see what my visual acuity is now.
I know with the condition I have, at the opticians they cannot pick up the blind spots whilst testing so the reading isn’t as exact as when I’ve had all my tests done at the hospital.
Which I’m still waiting for the upshot of all that by the way… #cliffhanger.

Some progression in my sight loss

A few weeks ago I rang Boots opticians as I thought I could do with a spare pair of reading glasses.
I’m so protective of my readers as they are letting me keep reading books on my phone and keeping in touch with people via all the messaging media we have today.
They couldn’t send the prescription out as the branch is shut near me.
I had some lovely retro wing style tortoiseshell lovelies in my basket online ready and waiting ☺
OK I thought, it’s only for a spare pair… I will just treasure the ones that I have. I’m very protective of them.
I had noticed the last few weeks that whilst painting I had to put my readers on as if I didn’t it would have looked like a monkey 🙊 had painted my kitchen.
But yesterday… I’m reading something on my phone and thought ‘where are my glasses’…
I had them on. This doesn’t bode well does it?
So some progression of the disease has happened and another call to Boots to see if I can get an eye test appointment will have to happen if this gets any worse… Or maybe a bigger phone as I’m already on huge font.
Yes… That’s a thing. Samsung call their biggest font… Huge…
Keep safe everyone ☺

But stronger glasses will help though won’t they?

But stronger glasses will help won’t they?
I love my reading glasses.
Panic if I can’t find them.
Not because they are especially fantastic or designer or anything like that. But they enhance and help my little eyes work things out and see better. At some point they won\’t. Until that point, I will make use of them best I can. So at the moment, it\’s all good ☺
They won’t repair and fill in the tiny blind spot that I have. Or will make any floaters that turn up temporarily, disappear.
But they do help so far.
It’s not just blurriness either, there is a double vision sometimes. Usually at the end of these day or through stress and tiredness.
People with the condition like me will have to study the words. I find it easier reading online as you can adjust the size of the font and zoom in.
Seeing pictures of a similar colour is hard. Every picture you show me has to be zoomed in so I can study it. Really detailed pictures take a bit of time to understand what’s happening. I may even ask you what it is so I can ‘see’ it.
This is all with my reading glasses on.
I bought them a year ago. They aren’t as good as they were but better than nothing, a lot better.
The floaters I have are grey to dark and don’t appear that often, more about these later in another post as they can make your vision puzzling and amusing sometimes.
I have started to clean with my glasses on as I’m paranoid I’m missing something. So they give me a bit more detail and can’t imagine not having them.
