Eye test check up

My local Boots opticians

A letter has come from Boots. I last went there for an eye test in July 2020. They told me to come for yearly check ups from now on.

I will see what is going on first with my eyes when I visit the hospital this week.

Then I will book an appointment afterwards. I’m reckoning Boots Opticians may think I will become a good customer ☺

I won’t be surprised if I need new reading glasses. I’ve touched on this subject in recent posts.

This may seem an inconsequential thing to blog about. But, I’m treating this blog like a diary of events to track my own progression throughout this condition.

Please remember. Everyone’s progression with this condition will be faster, slower, earlier or later. This has taken me 6 years to get to the point I’m currently at. Everyones life with this condition will be similar, but different.

This is a status I wrote 6 years ago when ignorance was still bliss.

It came up on my memories on Facebook today. I don’t use facebook anymore, apart from updating my One Vision page there.

I wasn’t concerned really. As I thought I would know if there was something seriously wrong with my eyesight. Like as in all of a sudden everything would go black.. I didn’t really realise at that time, there was so much of a sight loss spectrum inbetween.

I knew something was amiss, but just thought that it was down to me being in my 40s and my eyes had aged. Along with myself ☺

So this is really when the first inkling of any trouble with my eyesight presented itself.

So you see. This can happen to anyone. Don’t take your eyes for granted. I wasn’t aware anything at all was wrong before this instance.

PICTURE DESCRIPTION facebook status. Went to opticians. Got some doody glasses and referral to eye hospital. Not a good day for someone with an eye phobia.

My New glasses

Photo of new glasses. They are cats eye rimmed and tortoiseshell colour. On a white background

Well… My glasses have come. They are retro, tortoiseshell, big, thick lenses, my eyes look like an owls in them and I now have an air of Eric Morecambe.

They are twice as heavy as the old ones. You can really feel them on my face.

They are much more magnified than the last lot. These are really doing a good job. Anything I’m reading is abit more defined. The phone I’m holding, is now further away. I now realise I maybe should have changed them sooner, but then that would be getting silly as I only got the old ones May last year.
These really are something else.
More magnifying glasses than… erm… Reading glasses.

They have to be big as I need the peripheral vision unobstructed.
But…they are so much better than the others I had. The others obviously weren’t working as I could walk around in them and they are readers. These, you definitely can’t.
Hopefully these will last a while now and stay helping me as they are doing.
As I’ve said before, they can’t fill in the blank areas, move the annoying the black floaters, but they do make the letters I can see sharper. so up until a time they can’t help me anymore I will keep on keeping on.
Bye bye little glasses… Hello windscreens ☺
