Hurricane Idalia

Not at all eye related, but I just have to say…

I know we have alot of our American friends in here.

I’ve spoke to many of you that have reached out to chat through messenger on my Facebook page & on Instagram (always welcome & open by the way)

Thinking of you all from England to everyone in Florida right now and the surrounding States.

  1. Thank you so very much. – This formed between they Yucatán peninsula of Mexico and Cuba. With no steering current it drifted northward through the Gulf at only 8 kts, so it had time to gain strength. That area of Florida is largely swamp with the small, rather quaint barrier island Cedar Key 3 miles off shore.
    We were well prepared despite being 120 miles (195 km) away. We got a lot of wind and rain but had no damage. Very sorry for the people who lived on that little island and feeling very fortunate. We have been through the middle of the these things but live is a substantial house. Again, thank you.

    1. Wow George. That must have still been scary even though you were some miles away. Just shows you the force of it. I was very interested in watching about it all here.
      How do you prepare for such things? Food, water, sandbags, tying things down I’m thinking. Alot more to that I’ll bet.
      England last had a Hurricane in 1987 so I’m not used to them here fortunately.

      1. Thank you so much. Sandy and I have studied hurricanes for decades. Having lived in Florida 27 years, we’ve been through several. The only time I was ever scared was during Charley. 105mph sustained wind and pitch black. Then the neighbor’s tree came through the screened room over the pool.
        We keep a Hurricane Kit. Food that can be prepared without power, batteries, water. Some beer and wine. Oreo cookies. And M&M’s.

        1. It sounds like it’s a beautiful but frightening place at times. I’m watching with great interest Hurricane Lee at the moment. I’m learning about them as I’m quite frightened of high winds, so I’m guessing, knowledge is power ☺
